Foods of the World Outdoor Market is a new not-for-profit program that will provide opportunities for women and non-binary folks to create and/or launch new food businesses or food products that reflect their cultural and culinary heritage at a Chef supported market in Hillsburgh, ON.  Also providing our community with culturally specific educational  business support seminars and access to a chef for one-on-one or small group product development guidance, marketing and food demos. 

 
Who is this program for? 
 
  • Specifically for women and non-binary identified individuals, LGBTQ2S+ and BIPOC women living in Wellington County

  • Those wanting to start, or who have already started, a food business with a culturally specific food

  • Have been operating for less than 3 years if you already have an existing business

  • Limited space for 12 vendors for 2022 season

  • Must be able to commit to a 10 week program with a minimum of 8 weeks outdoor market Saturdays 9:00 am-1:00 pm (open hours with  additional 1 hour set up time and 1 hour clean up time provided)

  • Willing to participate in 1.5 hour online weekly “Leadership & Mental Health for Women & Non-Binary Entrepreneurs” business support webinars (see below for details)

    • Networking Part 2: Creating Sustainable "Circles of Care" for your success  

    • More than KPI’s: Prioritizing your own Mental Health as an entrepreneur

    • Beyond the Harvest:  Planning for Your Future in Business 

  • Access to business consultations and food demos with an onsite Chef:

    • Each vendor will be featured in a free community 1-hour outdoor cooking demo where you can either cook one of your sale products or feature a culturally specific food that will provide the community with education about your community, culinary practices, rituals, country’s specific ingredients

    • Product development is optional for an additional fee

  • Marketing, promotions & spotlights on Fanjoy’s Cooking Up Change social media 

  • Membership privileges including rental of commercially inspected kitchen to develop or prepare your food products; located at Fanjoy, 100 Trafalgar Road, Hillsburgh  (additional fee applies)
